Well, this is the first time I have been able to say this at a site NOT named Eject! Eject! Eject! -- but WELCOME INSTAPUNDIT READERS! And welcome to all of you. We're glad you're here.
After many years of long format essays over at E!3, and two years now of Afterburner's and other videos at PJTV, I am here at Declaration Entertainment because that is where I believe, in my heart of hearts, that the real fight for the future of the country lies: in the pop culture.
POLITICS IS DOWNSTREAM OF CULTURE. Since people vote based more on how they feel than on what they know, when I heard Jeremy Boreing's idea for a company composed of Citizen Producers making the kind of movies Hollywood used to make I knew I had to be a part of it.
By clicking on THE REEL tab (on the silver menu tab above) you can catch a video tour of your new website by watching HOW IT WORKS. And if you missed PIONEERS on the sign-up page, that's available there as well.
In a few days will be posting part one of a three-part interview with the writers of Declaration's first film, THE ARROYO; and coming next week: part one of my interview with HERCULES and ANDROMEDA star Kevin Sorbo, in which we talk about heroes, manhood and the difference between new and old Hollywood.
And much more is on the way.
On behalf of Jeremy and myself, thank you for taking a risk with us. We mean to do everything in our power to maintain that trust, and go out there to take back the culture that we all share.

How about: Trifecta: The
How about:
Trifecta:
The Motion Picture
You could put that one in the can for under a million, and it would probably pay for itself.
I'll crosspost this at Trifecta, and if you go with it, I better get a PJTV mug.
This is probably something
This is probably something you considered and put by the wayside. I can see you've already got two good movie ideas and probably good scripts to go with it, but shouldn't the first movie from Declaration Entertainment be something more like "1776".
Anyway, great job Bill and thanks for all the wonderful insight and commentary at PJTV.... even if you are a nasty gator fan.
GO VOLS!
As much as I love 1776, we
As much as I love 1776, we could probably do with as substantially less communist actor playing Ben Franklin, even if that isn't traditional casting. Also, there is credible evidence that Richard Nixon got the "Cool Considerate Men" number cut from the film, and we'd rather not have political authorities controlling the movie.
I love the idea of a movie about the founding principles that is geared to be popular, but you really need a good history teacher with integrity to back that...and there's a considerable bounty on those folks.
Glen Beck has been doing a
Glen Beck has been doing a bit of study about the history of our country. He may be able to recommend a few folks. Like the guys that wrote "The Real George Washington, America's Most Indispensable Man" by Parry, Allison, and Skousen from the National Center for Constitutional Studies. And there is David Barton with Wall Builders, he has done a bit of research. By the way, I just recently learned that US Military was not segregated by race until, Democrat Woodrow Wilson became president. It is amazing what our educational system does NOT teach. Let us teach with GOOD (factual) movies and songs.

Howdy,
Just a request from an old gal who likes men to look like men and not baby boys. How about a movie wherein the manly man has to take off his shirt and guess what, HE HAS HAIR ON HIS CHEST! He looks like a MAN! He acts like a man. He IS MAN.
Sigh.
That's all. Except thank you for getting this fabulous idea going.

I can't agree more that a
I can't agree more that a culture is defined by its common characteristics ( taken as a "given" by the members of the culture) and that these are formed by our "folk" history.
Long ago I tried to learn German and soon found that the langauge made little sense (and was very hard to remember) without having grown up with the "fairy tales" and other historical references known to "all" Germans.
We can not relate to "fellow" Americans unless we share the same langauge, grow up with the same fairy tales, and homolies the "everyone knows" (e.g. Honesty is the best policy, don't talk to strangers, etc.) We also need to form bonds in a generational sense (WWII vets and other of the time feel a closeness having lived through the war years. Now movies and TV programs are the ONLY "Glue" of our culture. Vietnam and Iraq vets don't get together. We don't talk to our neighbors anymore. We are taught to hate our history.) Thank God for your effort to glue us back together. Maybe we can regain some of our great history at the same time.
Our "mythos" must regain and reflect the truth, that the United States of America is the greatest force for good that the World has ever seen!
Very well said. Come on Bill,

Would love to somehow be one of the writers on your projects someday. Good luck with your first ones.

This is exciting. The very best of luck as you go forward.
(We would love to help out if you have any physical science or math questions at some point.)
I would have to say Mr.
I would have to say Mr. Whittle, the current pipeline film Aurora sounds great. Being a Sci-Fi fan I love this genre but am always dismayed by the plethora of socialists writing Sci-Fi. I look forward to this movie reaching its budget for production.
I love Sifi (books andnot the
I love Sifi (books andnot the movies very much). SF is the literature of ideas, and give more thought experiment to more socialogy than any other publications and social disiplines combined.
However, it may not be best initial correction for our currect missing "mythos of American culture". Yes, Avitar was as openly and ugly an anti-Western culture movie as you will find, but the problem was not the simple story - it was the use of Capitalism (big bad soulless Corporations) as the bad guys. It would have been a much better story using the current universal hate and enslavement culture of Islam. Or, it could easily have enslaved the natives with forced cultural change to Communism. So, there could be a place for SF talking culture (same comments apply to well done movie "Enemy Mine" with not using corporations as the bad guys.)
I see a more direct "celibration" of US culture in "The Arroyo". Common US people fighting for truth, justice and the American way in the best tridition of lone people heroicaly fighting against miserable godless murders and thieves. Hurray!
So as an immediate alternative to making more movies like the Pro-American "Armagetin" (Bruce Willis saving the World with American shuttles and know-how, I suggest the expansion on more universial desire, present in all people, and uniquely American - we band together to support each person's right to freedom - we made them friends when no one else in the World would, and we even extend that friendship to the past enemy. (Think more of the intense warmth and belonging, and likability of the charactersHeinlein'sworks.) Americans are the warmest, most gererious and likable people in the World. The movies must bring Americans back to automatically assuming we are good folks, and doing right is not "stupid", kindness in not "weakness", and honesty and hard work are expected in day-to-day life.
As an example, I would REALLY like to ecounter any strange black man as "probably" just another guy, and not having a very high probabliity of being outside of my culture, not having the same values as I do, and just statistically a "problem ready to happen". To do that I must believe that the "common black" has the family and moral structure that was common in both white and black communities in he 1950's. Saddly, I don't think this will happen until the common attitude presented in back communities is one of intollarence to the forces of family destruction as so well defined by Sonia Schmidt.
To achieve all the above, we must assure thatthe Declaration movies all have the elements of great movies, humorious moments, noble moments, meaningful objectives for the cast and weave an audiance solidarity with the heros (and their American ideals culture). PLEASE remenber that no one would look at PJTV, or listen to Rush Limbaugh, if the spots were not as humorious as they are informative. NO lecturing without a smile. Also,I want a profit and humorious movies SELL!
This is great. I'm reminded
This is great. I'm reminded of Michael Medved's book Hollywood vs. America, in which he makes many similar points as your intro.
Consider making a movie of David Horowitz's memoir Radical Son. He chronicles his journey from the far left to, shall we say, the reasoned right. It is a heartbreaking book in many ways and reveals a lot about the supposedly peace-seeking lefties in the 60s, especially the (old) Black Panthers, that has yet to be told to a wider audience.
There is so much history our kids never learned that would make great films. Few even know when the Civil War took place. There are war heroes they know nothing about from every war.
They should see movies about brave soldiers, inventive and hard-working businesspeople, intrepid Republican politicians, and Christians of all denominations who are kind and down-to-earth and not religious fanatic whack-jobs, as well as Jews who are comfortable being Jewish and don't always make jokes about it. People in Hollywood talk about stereotyping and being for "diversity," but they are the worse offenders.
I can't wait to see this project get going. I'm a free-lance writer. Please let me know what I can do to spread the word.

Bill Whittle has become a favorite of mine. I'll gladly plunk down a few bucks to see this thing get off the ground!

Bill, I mentioned it on
Bill, I mentioned it on another page, but the recently completed "Flag of My Father", with Bill Devane, John Schneider and Gi Gi Erneta is looking for distribution. It's a great family film. Rodney Rayne, the Director has a knack for making grown men cry. Would Declaration consider distribution deals?

I'm looking forward to Kevin being on the the site. We've been working with him on another couple of projects, and it doesn't surprise me that he's supporting this effort.

Is there a way we can solicit
Is there a way we can solicit support for these projects from (should I say it?) foreign sources? Do not discount the many many people of the World who know and thrill to great depictions of the American ideal. (They wish to immulate them in their own country.) AND, the integration of people from all over the World, into becoming Americans and living the American dream, is one of our strongest American principles.
Also, carefully done, this will be a great money maker. I trust Bill W. and all the great people at PJTV, NOT to be corrupted by foreign influences - HA!
I like the concept behind
I like the concept behind Aurora and The Arroyo. Aurora sounds more like the premise for a TV series, with too expansive a story to be made in anything less than a series of films. The story line in Arroyo has been made many times, but rarely in a context as real as you propose. I have some ideas that I may offer for consideration later...
And would it be possible for Declaration Entertainment to assist as an underwriter, distributor, to independent films that meet your criteria, or simply to make your members aware of such films?
Thank you so much for your efforts. You have my full and enthusiastic support.

I still have trouble the the
I still have trouble the the concept of "serious" movies. Few people really want to be drawn through a series of emotions and trials, even if, at the end, truth, justice, and the American way, win out.
Laughing at evil and greed has been the American way to effectively "defang" and oust those who try to take advantage of America's freedoms for their own ends. Please think of Will Rodgers impact, the effect of making "running jokes" of officials that disgraced themselves, and how all evil can't stand exposure to ridicule.
A great supression of our culture has been the crushing of humor. In the name of PC we can't laugh and point at the stupid and the jerks that pretend they are the American mainstream. We did once, now we are "insensative" or mean spirited, or racist, or "stupid bigots", or stuckup ignorant Americans. Yup, that me.
Once apon a time, thugs running around streets with their pants hanging down, would have lasted 5 seconds before they became a running joke. People saying they have a "cultural right" to beat their wives and do "honor" killings of their own family, would have been so mocked that they would have had to leave town - not anymore.
So lets assure we use one of American strongest freedoms - free speech HUMOR, to preserve and strengthen our values. We could easily laugh most of the organized evil our of this Country - but the evil, now in control, knows this and supresses their deserved ridicule.
